so. elsa is eating a very responsible breakfast. a fine selection of bread, meats, liver pate, raw vegetables, and cheeses! very standard, but even she can whip this up.
She at least knows how to use the toaster. But Satoru had always been the one to take care of meals, if not her mother. So Hikaru has stuck with a good, firm staple:
- A piece of toast covered in strawberry jam - uno apple, which is currently shoved in her mouth to free her hands up - a cup of ice cream
Breakfast of champions
She bounces her way into the dining room, awkwardly waving to Elsa with her occupied hands before scanning over her breakfast. Whoa...]
[Oh right, apple. She plops the cup down onto the table so that she can remove the fruit from her mouth.]
It's not! I just like it. [She nods firmly, as though this is a good enough reason to have ice cream this early.] Normally my brother makes breakfast for us, so I'm not very good at it.
Did you make all that yourself? That's so much food!
[well, off she goes. elsa just shakes her head softly, chuckling. so much for trying to gently get it off her. she drags the cup towards her, considering it, and shrugs congenially.]
I guess we're both having ice cream for breakfast, now.
[said to no one in particular, since hikaru is still in the kitchen. scooping up a spoon, she considers a plan of attack. better eat it quick, before it melts. nothing worse than melted ice cream...]
[It takes her a minute, but soon she's tromping back into the room with another cup, an extra spoon in her mouth, and a container of sprinkles, which she triumphantly plants on the table.]
There, I knew I forgot something!!! Do you want some???
she covers her mouth as she eats it, showing zero signs of pain from the massive amount of freezing ice cream she just horfed. when it's more or less consumed, she whispers around the frozen treat:]
[Said with the voice of utter respect. She blinks at the question, looking down at the new container.]
Oh, these? These are sprinkles! They're little sugar candies. You can put them on top of ice cream.
[Observe as she opens up the shaker and puts a decent amount on top of her own cup. The sprinkles are rainbow colored hundreds and thousands, tiny and colorful.]
Sometimes! These ones don't - all the colors taste the same. They're just sweet and a little crunchy? Like when you have sugar on top of a butter cookie?
But you can get them in all sorts of sizes and shapes, and you can find ones that are just chocolate or strawberry sometimes, and they're colored like the taste! I like the chocolate ones best, but I couldn't find any in the kitchen.
[She stuffs a spoonful into her mouth before remembering that, oh right, she was supposed to take something from Elsa. So her spoon stays stuck out of her mouth as she grabs her plate with her jam toast and comes to peer at what Elsa has left.]
I've never seen someone have a breakfast like this... Is this how you always eat?
Yeah... I usually have more, too, but my brothers usually cook for me, and I didn't see a rice cooker in the kitchen... [rip her egg with rice and cup of miso soup]
Roll them up - oh, oh, you mean like a little tube?? That'd be fun...
[She picks out a couple pieces before eying the pate.]
[She considers it for a moment, breaking off a little piece of bread to use as her makeshift utensil.]
I have three! They're all older than me. Satoru's the oldest - he's the one that does a lot of the cooking whenever my mom can't. I really like how he makes vegetables!
She's wonderful. Anna has a talent for warming people's hearts, and bringing out the best in them. She never gives up, even in the face of danger, even when she's been turned away before. She is the most selfless, caring person I've ever met.
[elsa sighs, rolling up a piece of meat.]
I'm... glad she wasn't transported with us, but I do miss her.
[She takes her moment to properly chew it and swallow, concentrating as though she has to figure out what, exactly, she just put in her mouth.]
It's... different??? It's not spicy, at least. That's what I really don't like. The texture is just kinda funny...
[Uh. Hmm.] I-I don't think it's bad! I really don't! It's like... really salty, and kind of tastes like a meat or something? Like... tofu and herbs and meat, maybe???
Oh, really? She must just enjoy seeing the look on other people's faces when they light up from how delicious they are. I think there's a kind of pleasure in that—maybe even better than chocolate.
w0, sunday morning?
so. elsa is eating a very responsible breakfast. a fine selection of bread, meats, liver pate, raw vegetables, and cheeses! very standard, but even she can whip this up.
what's good hikaru, are you eating right?]

If by "made", you mean I took it out of the kitchen, and put it on a plate... yeah. Pretty good, huh?
[haven't you ever seen a breakfast smorgasbord before hikaru]
I'll trade you some for your ice cream.
no subject
she seems to consider this for all of .5 seconds with a sad stare at her ice cream, before it goes away just as fast]
Deal.
I'm gonna go get another spoon - oh, and you can have that cup of ice cream! I'll get another one!
[where does she store all this energy it's a mystery
zoom, back she goes to the kitchen]

popping the entire ice cream into her mouth.

she covers her mouth as she eats it, showing zero signs of pain from the massive amount of freezing ice cream she just horfed. when it's more or less consumed, she whispers around the frozen treat:]
Um. Sorry.
What are those?

Wow...
You must really like ice cream.
[Said with the voice of utter respect. She blinks at the question, looking down at the new container.]

[cute........ anna would love those........... what a luxury item tho, they all must be hand-rolled.....]
And they're edible? Does each color have a different flavor?

Can I offer you some meat and cheese? You can roll them up together, if you don't want more bread.
no subject
Roll them up - oh, oh, you mean like a little tube?? That'd be fun...
[She picks out a couple pieces before eying the pate.]
...What is that? It kinda looks like miso...
no subject
Try it. See what you think.
[will hikaru like liver pate........
and while she does that:] How many brothers do you have?

I have three! They're all older than me. Satoru's the oldest - he's the one that does a lot of the cooking whenever my mom can't. I really like how he makes vegetables!

Was she with you before you woke up here?
[She's listening actively, though she is bringing that pate to her mouth
and instantly making a face that screams "eugh"
at least she does not spit it out, that's rude]
no subject
No, unfortunately not. We're living in different places right now.
[oh
that's really funny, though.]
Not a fan?
no subject
It's... different??? It's not spicy, at least. That's what I really don't like. The texture is just kinda funny...

What is it?
no subject
It's liver pate. It's supposed to be very creamy, luxurious, and smooth, but... it's an acquired taste, I think.
no subject
[Hmmmmmm weird.]
Do you and Anna eat stuff like this all the time, Elsa-san?
no subject
Chocolate?
no subject
You like chocolate, too???
no subject
Doesn't everyone?
no subject
Isn't that sad? I think I'd be miserable without sweets every once in a while... She told me I can just have her extras, though, if I ever want them.

She apparently makes her parents try out everything without tasting them herself. They must really love her to do something like that.
[rip Umi's parents]
Do you like to make sweets, Elsa-san?
no subject
...Well, I'm trying. But I don't think I'm very good, if I'm being honest. The chefs kept shooing me out of the kitchen.
no subject
Maybe you can try some more with the kitchen here?
no subject
I'd like that. I think I could stand to get better at things.
