[You ever just give up on finding your roommate and just sleep right outside of your room to make sure you don't miss them?
One (1) small girl is doing just that, curled up with the dog pillow that's nearly the same size as her. At the very least, she's moved herself out of the walkway! But Hilda will probably have to trip over her to get into the bedroom proper.
[ Hilda's about ready for a nice, long nap, having finally found the living quarters. But there remains one final obstacle: a girl passed out in her doorway.
Oh dear. At least she looks... comfy? ]
Hey, um... [ She's going to crouch down and gently poke her cheek. ] You okay there?
[ That's... an interesting thing for Claude to say. What is he up to? Oh, whatever. Hikaru's reaction is cute enough that she can let his apparent gossip slide. ]
I don't think something like this is enough to make Hilda cry. But it's so sweet that you're worried!
I don't know if she would cry, but... sometimes if someone pities you, that can make you feel a different sort of sad, you know? Fuu said that it's hard when you don't have someone who understands what you feel, so I thought... um... you know...
[ She's definitely read into this too much, the poor girl. But it's still a very endearing sentiment, enough that Hilda lets out a well-meaning laugh. ]
Me? I'm Hilda. The one and only.
[ She refrains from any more cheek-poking, getting to her feet and extending a hand to Hikaru to help her do the same. ]
And I'm honestly more worried about you, sleeping in a place like this!
[She turns bright red as she scrambles to her feet with Hilda's help, awkwardly fixing her clothing as best as she can from how long she's been on the floor.]
I... I didn't wanna fall asleep in the room and miss you, I... um...
[She scoops up her doggy pillow friend, which is about two-thirds her height, squishing it between her arms as she fumbles for her PHS in her skirt pocket.]
I guess I get what you mean -- my brothers always wait for me to come home to make sure I'm okay, but I know it means they love me!
Is that bad? I mean, all of my brothers help me with a lot of stuff, and they talk to me when they're worried about me... even when I get a little angry at them, I know I can still go talk to them if I'm upset.
[She plops onto the end of the bed, fussing with the ribbon tying back her braid..]
If your brother is being annoying, why don't you just talk to him about it?
[Okay, that much she can understand. Goodness knows she has refused to talk to her own brothers about a lot of stuff if she knew it would make them sad or concerned for her...]
...Huh? I mean, I try to be. It's not like my brothers are perfect, but I just treat them as best I can and let them know I love them, you know?
You're nice, Hilda-chan. I don't think you could be a bad sister or anything.
[ Rough day means that Hilda's back relatively early, sitting at the small table in their room. She has sort of a distant look in her eye as she handles a teacup, half-full, leg tapping idly against the ground.
But when Hikaru comes back in, she collects herself with a small smile in greeting. ]
[Hikaru is definitely in a lot later than Hilda. Her sword is tiredly carried in one hand and a plushie she definitely hadn't had before in the other, her outfit and hair littered with bits of grass and twig.
She looks up in a little bit of a daze, her eyes puffy.]
Huh? Oh, um... [She nods, wiping at her face with the wrist holding the plushie.]
Yeah. Thank you. Can I put my stuff away really quick, Hilda-chan?
[The plushie gets put onto her bed with her giant pillow dog and a plush fish with weird trashy plastic wings that she's had for the last few days and I completely forgot to mention, it's fine. She'll nod as Hilda opens the closet for her, carefully rummaging for one of the extra hotel handtowels so she can wipe up her blade with a shaking hand.]
Mm-hmm. I'm... I'm okay, you know?
I'm sorry I wasn't here last night. I got stuck outside...
Sorta. I tried to sleep, but I had a lot on my mind...
[She doesn't have what she needs here to take good care of the metal, but... maybe Escudo didn't need the care steel did? Oh well. She was going to have to play it safe.]
Sword practice makes me tired if I work hard, you know? So I went and did my kendo practice for a while, over by the trees past the planetarium. [The sword gets carefully leaned up against one of the closet walls before she closes the door.]
I guess I was really tired... I didn't mean to fall asleep outside.

Can't get in... 'm waiting for Hilda...
no subject
Why, did she do something wrong?
[ Hilda, that troublemaker. ]
no subject
[She rubs at her eyes, drawing her legs in towards her chest as she sits up.]
I wanted to make sure she was okay. Claude said someone was probably feeling sorry for her, so...
I didn't want her to come to the room feeling sad.

I don't think something like this is enough to make Hilda cry. But it's so sweet that you're worried!

[Hm. What pretty hair. She blinks for a moment.]
...Who are you, anyway?
no subject
Me? I'm Hilda. The one and only.
[ She refrains from any more cheek-poking, getting to her feet and extending a hand to Hikaru to help her do the same. ]

no subject
Oh, no need to apologize—isn't it nice to have someone waiting up for you at the end of a long day?
[ Usually it'd be her family, but this is good too. She glances over at the nameplate. ]
Does that make you... Hikaru?
no subject
[She scoops up her doggy pillow friend, which is about two-thirds her height, squishing it between her arms as she fumbles for her PHS in her skirt pocket.]
I guess I get what you mean -- my brothers always wait for me to come home to make sure I'm okay, but I know it means they love me!
no subject
Yeah, exactly like that. Though you're not nearly as annoying about it as my brother is.
[ Hikaru sounds like she likes her siblings, but surely she gets it... ]
me suddenly realizing what a big brain move it was to put them together.... thanks mods
[thank god one of them learned how to open the door before this thread ANYWAY
She lets herself be guided in, looking wide-eyed around the room for a moment before turning back to Hilda, tilting her head.]
Mine get annoying every once in a while, but never about stuff like that... What does your brother do?
bless pink room
What doesn't he do?
[ She sighs, long and dramatic as she flits over to one of the beds. ]
He's a duke, and an esteemed warrior, and blah blah blah. And he still finds time to be a nuisance!
no subject
[A beat, then a gasp, flinging her doggy pillow friend to the floor next to the unclaimed bed.]
Oh my gosh, he's not mean to you or anything, is he???
no subject
No, but you know how brothers can get, don't you?
[ holst is never awful to her, but he's never awful to anyone. ]
He's just constantly in my hair about this or not—we don't even live together, and it's like I can't get rid of him.
no subject
[She plops onto the end of the bed, fussing with the ribbon tying back her braid..]
If your brother is being annoying, why don't you just talk to him about it?
no subject
[ the hero of the alliance indeed. ]
You must be such a good sister, Hikaru. I love my brother, but he's such a pain sometimes.
no subject
[Okay, that much she can understand. Goodness knows she has refused to talk to her own brothers about a lot of stuff if she knew it would make them sad or concerned for her...]

But when Hikaru comes back in, she collects herself with a small smile in greeting. ]
Hey. Want some?
[ It smells like chamomile. ]
no subject
She looks up in a little bit of a daze, her eyes puffy.]
Huh? Oh, um... [She nods, wiping at her face with the wrist holding the plushie.]
Yeah. Thank you. Can I put my stuff away really quick, Hilda-chan?
no subject
Of course. Here—
[ She'll help her open the closet or whatever else. ]
You hanging in there, Hikaru?
no subject
Mm-hmm. I'm... I'm okay, you know?
I'm sorry I wasn't here last night. I got stuck outside...
I didn't worry you or anything, did I?
no subject
Oh, no worries. I wasn't here either.
[ Does she look like someone who turns in before 8? What is she, a nerd? ]
Were you putting that thing to use?
[ She gestures to the blade. ]
no subject
[She doesn't have what she needs here to take good care of the metal, but... maybe Escudo didn't need the care steel did? Oh well. She was going to have to play it safe.]

no subject
[ She sighs, propping her cheek on her hand. ]
It's all so weird.
no subject
[Huh.]
Was... it everybody, then? Not just the people outside?
Hey, where were you, Hilda-chan?? Were you stuck outside, too?
no subject
[ she didn't sleep OUTSIDE outside, but why would she go into the woods that late? some of y'all are too much ]
I did get locked in though, so yeah. You could say I was stuck.
